After four years of low and inconsistent academic performance, Welch Middle School had
positive year-over-year improvement in reading, math, and overall quality, according to 2024 Texas Education Agency STAAR Aggregate data. These improvements were enough to elevate the school from an F-rating to a C-rating.

Comparable campuses that also underwent the transformation via the New Education System saw large improvements year-over-year in students meeting or exceeding expectations in reading (+7 percentage points) and math (+8 percentage points). Welch Middle School increased by 2 percentage points in reading, and 8 percentage points in math.
