Good Reason Houston Brings Resources to Gulfton Parents
Houston, Texas (Nov. 6) – It was a beautiful day to read in the park! Good Reason Houston invited Gulfton parents to a community fair and reading event on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Burnett Bayland Park. The education nonprofit leads a community-wide coalition of Blueprint Partners who provided parents with programming information as well as financial support during the “Every Child, Every Reader” event.
Kappa Delta Chi Latina Sorority hosted reading circles in Spanish and English to about 40 kids under the age of six, while a KIPP teacher and The Museum of Fine Arts led a recycled art project. Participating partners who provided much-needed program information and resources included: YMCA, BakerRipley, CHIP, Gulfton Green, and Harris County Public Library. Harris County Public Health vaccinated eligible adults and gave away more than $500 in gift cards to community members in attendance. Another $500 in gift cards was raffled off from Kappa Delta Chi and Good Reason Houston.
It’s especially important to support families in the Gulfton region of Houston as they have felt a significant impact in disruption due to the pandemic.
